Kristi Bird, Artist Statement

Making art is an emotional process for me. I create carefully thought out shape, colour and value compositions, then, get lost in the passion of the process. I constantly walk a tightrope balancing accuracy and detail of my subject with the loose flowing environments I envision.

My visual and emotional perspective makes my art unique. In my work I see passion, emotional healing, and never ending growth through constant learning. Others have said they were drawn in through emotion, the peacefulness of my images and beauty of the way I portray nature around me.

I work from somewhere deep within my heart and most times when I work it’s because of a stirring there. I am passionate about the process and my “zone” can be a creative abyss I get lost in. When I am not in the “zone” I am constantly questioning my universe and everything in it.
