Last week was a marathon of painting. I was getting ready for a show this past Saturday and had wanted to finish two new pieces for it. (I had also written out a newsletter on Friday to show you these new paintings but alas artist stress got in the way and I forgot to hit send. It happens to us all, right?). I had just finished the loon when I got a notification that I had sold a painting from Martello Alley. I needed to replace that piece too. I finished the Female Common Yellowthroat, and started working in the swan. That was three pieces in one week. It might be a record for me. My next show is the Rideau Lakes Studio Tour taking place on Canada Day weekend. I will be at Stone Manor Studios in Newboro, 11 New Street. from 10 to 5 Saturday and Sunday. It is looking like it will be a fabulous show so I hope to see you there.

I paint near Westport on Wednesday afternoons and always bring my camera with me. The scenes coming down Highway 10 can be most wonderful with the late afternoon Sun. One of my favorites spots to stop is close to my parents house. For many years now there have been nesting loons that if I get up high enough I can see from the road. This year there is a new owner and the nesting spot has been replaced with a little boat. I sure hope they have found a new spot to nest. There is at least one loon still visible on occasion. This was not a lucky shot and patience is definitely a virtue. I am grateful for any glimps I get of these beautiful creatures let alone a display that touches my soul.
